Vous êtes belles, mais vous êtes vides.... On ne peut pas mourir pour vous

Last-minute layout project for digital painting. I spent so long trying to figure out what to paint, that I hardly had time to paint it xD The light change wasn't too effective...I think I need to paint over the hue change more, and pull down the contrast on the lotus.

Doodle in Psych and three sketches of my sister sleeping through her spring break :)

I wanted to say thanks to all the well-wishers~ I really appreciate your support!

Still nothing in the mail though *siigh*. I'm so worried- it happened like this last year too. I saw everyone getting acceptance letters, and then right after that, the notice of wait-listing. Out-of-state and international applicants got their acceptance letters (Texas, New York, England...), and news of California acceptances is likewoah tons of people. I'm afraid they're skipping over me again, which is sad, as I really, really want this, and I feel like this is my last chance. I don't think I can stay in Hawaii any longer.

I've started trying brush pens~ they make the most wonderful lines :D Sunabe lets me sit in on his life drawing class, so I can draw from a model on Tuesday and Thursday. The Sunday sessions are hard to attend. His class is also thinking of doing their own life drawing session (for students only) on Friday, which would help me a lot too.

The whole top row is compressed charcoal. The first and third in the second row use either vine or both vine and compressed.

Update!

Takin' down the Sprout temporarily, until I can figure out why it's crashing browsers (thank you thank you thank you for bringing this to my attention btw) D: Figure drawings will be updated momentarily, and in a regular post.

Surprisingly, Borders @ Ward carries Moleskines now, so I broke down and bought a sketchbook. It's easily one of the most expensive sketchbooks I own (the Fabriano Artist's Journal's $19.57 at no.1, this one is a close no.2 at $16.95). Standing around 5"x8", it's 100 pages of acid-free lovin'. Comparatively, the Fabriano has almost double the page count, and contains both white and cream paper, but the Moleskine paper weight, elastic enclosure, hard cardboard cover, and inside pocket make it a serious contender. I intend to take it with me everywhere- love it an' use it as if it were my own child. >D
